Hill Walking & Mountain Walking Courses Overview
Hill walking with Beyond the Edge can take you away from the crowds allowing you to experience the solitude of the Kinder plateau, the majesty of the ridges in the high mountains of Snowdonia or the historic summits and glens of Scotland.
Whether you are a hill walker thinking of taking your first steps or wanting to undertake more challenging walks, our courses will give you the knowledge and confidence to achieve your ambitions.
Courses are delivered by friendly, highly qualified instructors who will create a supportive environment to guide you at your own pace in learning new skills.
For first timers have a look at our Hill Skills and Mountain Skills courses. These are nationally accredited courses designed to introduce you to the uplands and inspire you to undertake your own adventures.
For intermediates you can book a guided adventure, launch into the amazing and fun world of scrambling. Or try our self guided options.
For our Hill Skills courses we would like to offer a space where women can develop and practice their skills in a women’s only environment, learning from female instructors. We have tried to run these courses multiple times for the last three years but only twice got enough participants to make it viable. However if you would like to attend a women’s only course, you can do this as a bespoke course and we will provide a female instructor if you so desire.
Beyond the Edge are committed to ensuring that everyone has equal opportunity to attend our courses. If you feel you may need additional support to attend, please do let us know so we can facilitate this. For Mountain Training courses a useful document can be found here.
The standard course list is below, but as with many of our adventures if you want to try walking or scrambling in the Lake District, Scotland, overseas or something different just contact the office and we will hatch a plan.
