Back in the summer Alex ran a course on techniques and rigging for climbing photography, and participants were kind enough to share their photos with us to pop in a blog.
The course teaches skills and techniques to safely get into the best position for taking climbing photos, as well as the photographic technicalities of taking photos from height. The group spent the first day learning and practising to rig different systems for working on crags, and were given an assignment to capture the people of Burbage Valley on the second day.
Alex is a qualified photojournalist with more experience than he’d care to admit as both a photographer and a Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor. He has been published in the mainstream media including The Financial Times, The Guardian, The Independent, The Economist, Le Monde and National Geographic as well as in climbing magazines throughout the world. Some of Alex’s magazine covers are shown here. Alex wrote about photographing the Wideboyz Pete Whittaker and Tom Randall on Belly Full of Bad Bellies here.
