BMC Members Courses – Overview

The BMC (British Mountaineering Council) and AMI (Association of Mountaineering Instructors) have teamed up to offer a series of one day, skills training courses to help BMC members become more independent walkers, climbers and scramblers.

Beyond the Edge have been chosen to run these courses for the BMC in the Peak District and Yorkshire areas.

Beyond the Edge are one of the most experienced providers of mountain training courses in the UK and offer low ratios and a very high standard of safety, care and enjoyment. This, coupled with our very experienced and relaxed instructors means you are sure to have an unforgettable experience.

Intro to Trad climbing

A one-day workshop looking at good practice in placing gear, building belays and the different ways to equalise belays.

A one day workshop recapping good practice in placing gear, building and equalising belays. Then further skills like abseiling into routes and prussicing, protecting your second and retreating from routes.

Intro to Sport leading

A one day workshop looking at leading sports climbs outside. We look at safety equipment, safe techniques for threading anchors, stripping routes and dealing with routes you can’t get up. If appropriate you may get on the sharp end during the day.
