Managing fear & anxiety in your Clients – Course Overview
In this workshop, we gain a basic understanding of anxiety and the “fight or flight” response and delve into some simple, highly practical models you can use to explain this natural phenomenon to your clients.
The models give us the language to describe what is going on for our clients – and just as importantly ourselves – and enable us to have a range of different ways we can manage fear and anxiety within a group / individual to get the best outcome.
The workshop will help us spot the early signs of anxiety, what we can say and where to position ourselves to prevent it worsening.
If there is a significant fear response from a client, we learn what to do and what to say (and importantly what not to do or say). We examine how to build and then use the relationship we have with our clients to help them emotionally regulate and move forward.
We also make sure we all understand the difference between coaching and counselling and when we need to signpost greater support to clients.
